This one is the highest priced piece I’m offering. Not because it’s the oldest, not because it’s the rarest, but because it’s my favorite.
I bought this shirt from Rockabilia directly, right after the release of Apple, and before the words Pearl Jam were ever uttered in public. There was an article in RIP Magazine, sort of an album review for Apple, and an obituary for Andrew Wood. I bought Apple based on that review. It took a few listens to sink in – I wasn’t an addict, and I was too young for lost loves. When it hit though, this album became my everything for a long time, which is wild in an era of Cowboys from Hell.
Eventually, I lost this shirt. I wasn’t a collector, I was just a teenager trying to get by. The shirt vanished, I moved across country, and that was the end of it. Until my phone rang like 4 years later, my best friend Dave, who told me he had found my MLB shirt, packed away with some of his stuff. He drove from Detroit to meet me in St. Pete, Florida, and he returned the shirt to me. We went that night and saw a local band called Black, and Suicidal Tendencies. Elsewhere on this site, you’ll find some autographed ST merch – it’s from July 7, 1997, I was re-united with my beloved Mother Love Bone shirt.
